Empowering Our Community Through Self-Defence

When we heard about the horrific attack on a woman by teenagers in Eastgardens & the Bondi incident, we didn't just shake our heads—we took action. For the month of June, we host free weekly self-defence workshops, teaching women and families’ practical skills to stay safe and feel empowered.. We believe that no one should ever feel unsafe in their own neighbourhood. As part of our commitment to the Hurstville community, we’re launching specialised self-defence classes—with a strong focus on empowering local residents.

Why Self-Defence Matters

Incidents like these remind us of the importance of being prepared. Self-defence is more than just physical techniques—it’s about building confidence, awareness, and resilience. Whether you're walking home from school, heading to work, or simply out in the community, knowing how to protect yourself can make all the difference.

For beginners and people who are starting out

These classes are tailored for beginners with no martial arts experience and women who seeks to learn basic self-defence. The techniques demonstated will be designed to:

  • Escape common attacks like grabs and chokes

  • Defend from the ground using Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

  • Boost self-confidence and mental readiness
